Jakob Graabak
Foresight Director
Jakob leads CFG’s technology foresight work. In this role, he helps policy makers develop their understanding of the present and possible futures of our priority technologies and their societal implications.
Jakob is responsible for CFG’s work on horizon scanning, technological progress, scenario analysis, and how CFG prioritizes new programs and initiatives.
In addition, Jakob co-founded the Norwegian Center for Long-Term Policy (langsikt.no), where he currently serves as an affiliated senior advisor.
Jakob is a former McKinsey Global Institute fellow, where he worked on climate risk, European technology competitiveness, global priorities research, and climate transitions. He previously advised American policy-makers on biosecurity as a project lead at SecureBio.
He is available to discuss horizon scanning for emerging technologies, technology learning curves, anticipatory governance under uncertainty, the economics of risk mitigation, implications for national security, and innovation policy for dual use technologies.
Jakob’s work has been presented at key global events such as the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, the Munich Security Conference, and G20 Summits. His research has also informed the strategies of leading private- and public-sector institutions such as BlackRock and the United States White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Jakob has also appeared on Norway’s flagship political debate show, The Debate on NRK TV to discuss the risks of advanced AI.
