Thomas Legge

Senior Director, Development

Brussels

Thomas is part of CFG’s Communications team, helping the organisation engage with the philanthropic community. He is based in Brussels

Thomas is responsible for CFG’s relationships with philanthropy, helping to shape the organisation’s business case and to prepare funding pitches for CFG as a whole and for individual programmes, and to ensure that funders are fully engaged in CFG’s work.

Previously, Thomas worked for over eleven years at the European Climate Foundation, where he led the ECF’s External Relations programme before setting up and leading its Land Use programme.

Thomas’s career has mostly focused on climate change but he is at heart a generalist, fascinated by complex problems and society’s approach to dealing with them. Previously, he worked for the German Marshall Fund of the United States, in Washington, DC and Brussels; for Chatham House in London; for an advisory body to the Irish government in Dublin, and for the European Commission in the Republic of Georgia.

He holds a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University, New York, but often draws on his first love, history.
