Daan Juijn
Advanced AI Researcher - Computational Governance
Daan specialises in technical AI policy research. Drawing from his background in scenario planning, he tries to disentangle where and how compute governance can improve future AI outcomes in robust ways.
Daan is a compute governance researcher at the Centre for Future Generations. He is a generalist and interdisciplinary thinker who also enjoys diving deep into technical subjects.
After graduating from a double Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, Daan followed a Master’s in Philosophy, Politics & Economics. He then went on to work at a Dutch think tank focused on climate policy and at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. There, he advised on ambitious climate mitigation measures, the national COVID-19 response and – more recently – on AI strategy and the European AI Act.
At CFG, Daan conducts research on compute governance – the responsible governance of AI technologies through monitoring, stimulation and regulation of the AI hardware supply chain. Daan enjoys moving between different layers of abstraction: from high-level strategy to the nitty gritty technical details, and back again.
