Bengüsu works on a broad range of AI governance topics, aiming to bridge technical best practices with effective AI policy. Her research includes scenario planning and international coordination on AI governance.
Bengüsu is an Advanced AI Resarcher, specializing in AI governance. Her broad research areas so far covered dual-use aspects of advanced AI, drafting policy recommendations for the AI Summit series and developing risk thresholds for advanced AI.
Prior to joining CFG, she worked worked as a recruitment analyst for a high-performance computing startup with an AI safety mission. She held verious roles and internships in the industry in areas like digital ad fraud, product management and monitoring & evaluation. She was a member of the Global Scanning Network at the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies for a year, building experience in futures-research.
Bengusu earned her master’s degree from Columbia University in Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences with a thesis on user perceptions on recommendation algorithms, and her bachelors from Sabanci University in Industrial Engineering and Psychology.
She enjoys thinking about how humanity’s future will shape in her free time as well. She has several books published in Turkish and one science-fiction novel, Ancient Man, published in English in 2022.
