Avi works with the AAI team on the policy and infrastructural challenges of building advanced AI. Also keen on understanding the systemic risks and complex interactions that emerge as a result of widespread AI adoption.
After graduating with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 2014, Avinash was an early employee helping build SocialCops, an organisation enabling governments make better decisions using data, directly impacting over 5 million people through his work. He then helped build Thinkerbell Labs, an inclusive edtech organisation which designed the world’s first Braille literacy device, TIME Magazine’s Invention of the Year in Accessibility, 2022. Avinash also worked closely with an NGO, Janwaar Castle, that used skateboarding to break gender and caste barriers.
He is a Skoll Scholar, Dalai Lama Fellow, Acumen India Fellow, and a YLAC Policy in Action Fellow. He has two Masters degrees from the University of Oxford – an MBA and an MPP (Masters in Public Policy).
